Yona Friedman (Metropole Europe, 2012)
With his monumental wall drawing Metropole Europe the well-known situationist Yona Friedman investigates structural issues of transportation and urban economies. It is concerned with urban concepts—for instance, that the principal objective should not be to enlarge cities even more so as to make everything available everywhere, but instead to expand the transportation network between the major cities of Europe. Friedman’s persuasive vision: less private traffic, but several high-speed trains between European cities every hour, creating a metro-like transportation network for all of Europe.
