Thomas Houseago (Hands & Feet III, 2011)
“As a sculptor, I am trying to put thought and energy into an inert material and give it truth and form,” states the English artist Thomas Houseago who has established a reputation in recent years with brilliant appearances and powerful positions. His at times monumental works exhibit a violent, occasionally threatening power. He presents the human body as fragment, plays with all genres of art history, and thus creates sculptures that are a reflection on their own history.
