San Keller (Canti e Grida, 2012)
With the Löwenbräu-Kunstareal and the galleries on the compound of the former Maag cogwheel factory, Zürich-West is Switzerland’s main trading center for contemporary art. This is the point of reference for the San Keller’s conception of "Canti e grida". The well-known performance and conceptual artist has combined Italian market songs from the 19th century with the most popular adjectives used in the catalogue descriptions of the 43 art projects of ART AND THE CITY. The result is a 30-minutes sequence of songs performed by two professional singers at the opening of ART AND THE CITY.
The recordings of the songs have been included in the regular sound program of the Bar Hotel Rivington & Sons in the Prime Tower for the duration of the exhibition.
(Premiere of «Canti e grida»: Friday, 8 June, 2012, 8.30 p.m., Schiffbau.)
