Oscar Tuazon (A Lamp, 2012)
Oscar Tuazon investigates the architectural paradigms of modernism and the utopian architectural visions of the hippie and eco movements. The shelter he designed for Zürich-West was built from fragments of a shipwreck and refers to the long history of pavilion architecture. Allusions to the Schiffbau— today used by the Schauspielhaus—in which large ships were built around the turn of the century are contextually intended, as is the undertone critical of civilization that results from placing the sculpture in front of the shiny Prime Tower.
