Arcangelo Sassolino (Elisa, 2012)
The oeuvre of Arcangelo Sassolino draws unmistakable references to the Kinetic Art of the 1960s. His hybrid beings constructed from industrial machine parts quite deliberately play with the element of uncertainty caused by the threat of losing control over the power of machines. elisa, a sculpture assembled from four mechanical digger parts and hydraulically animated by a random generator, is set on an open area at the Pfingstweidstrasse where, with shrieking noises, it scratches menacing signs into the tarmac.
